VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: Chelsea Robertson – AFL SportsReady and VET graduate

The role was for accounts trainee in the Finance department. I applied for the role and the very next day I got a call from AFL SportsReady telling me they wanted me to come in for an interview.

It was all really exciting, and I was so happy, it fit exactly what I wanted at the time.

The Certificate I studied was a Certificate III in Finance and Administration.

Everything I studied was really relevant to what I was actually doing at work and I would say if I hadn’t been working and getting that hands on experience, it would have actually been pretty difficult to learn a lot of the things that I was learning.

Getting to see behind the scenes how an AFL club work was just incredible. To meet everyone, all the staff and the coaches, it was just incredible. It’s honestly one of the best things that has even happened to me.

When the traineeship finished I was approached by our COO Simon Fitzgibbon and he advised me there was a new role they were creating and that I would be perfect for it and so I moved into Commercial Sales Coordinator. It was an incredible experience to be finished and offered a position.

If I hadn’t done the traineeship with AFL SportsReady I would absolutely not be where I am today.

They gave me the opportunity to get into an industry I love.

I am so forever grateful and always will be because I absolutely wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for AFL SportsReady
